Branding Checklist for Small Business
Branding is important for any small business – it helps you stand out from the competition and often serves as the first impression potential customers have of your company.
What is branding?
Company branding is more that just having a great logo. A brand is the image of a product or service that consumers connect with – by identifying the name, logo, slogan or design of the company. Some great examples of branding success stories are Apple and Nike.
There are three main aspects to every modern brand: Visual branding, voice branding, and values:
- Visual branding includes the traditional features of a brand such as logo, colours, and typography. However none of these constitutes the foundation of your brand, not even your logo.
- Similar to visual branding, but perhaps a little less well-known is voice branding which includes things like your brand’s tagline and the type of tone and language your brand uses when communicating to fans.
- Beneath these two elements, however, lies the third one that constitutes the true foundation of a brand: values. Brand values define the essence of the brand, as well as the rules that help guide and manage its development.
Here we are going to address the visual identity of your brand, which includes your logo, colours and typography. These are important elements because they can be the first and primary point of contact with your customers.
